About Veronica

I was born in Italy, but I have been living in the UK for over 13 years. I have been formally studying and speaking English since I was very young and last year I finally pursued and obtained a Level 5 TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification. In 2016, while working full time in London, I have decided to enrol into night school and 2 years later I obtained a Certificate of Higher Education in Business Management and Marketing.

My firsthand experiences as both a migrant and as an adult learner have had a significant impact on how I teach English. I know all too well the anxiety and frustration you probably feel when you come across yet another job listing with “Fluent English required”; I am also very familiar with the insecurity and the sheer exhaustion that come with learning a new skill, especially while adult life demands all your attention and energy. So now my teaching method is all about practical use of the language and my focus is on making you feel supported and encouraged at every step of the way.

About the lesson

Our lessons together will be fun and interesting: from Astrophysics to Zendaya, any topic that sparks an interest is a valid topic. The atmosphere will always be positive and relaxed. No doubt you will make mistakes, but you will soon realise you have no reason to feel bad about it because not only you will not be judged, but you will also see how the mistakes can be the key to receive effective feedback.

• ENTRLY LEVEL TEST – By assessing your starting level with a simple test,
I'll be able to create balanced lessons that will bring you
something new, while consolidating your existing knowledge.
• REAL LIFE ENGLISH - We'll study authentic language,
used in real life contexts.
• FUNCTIONAL, USEFUL GRAMMAR – I will never ask you to memorise
boring grammar rules. I will instead help you understand them,
so you can master them and use them intuitively.
• ACTIVATING YOUR LANGUAGE - I'll provide you with plenty of tools
and suggestions for independent study. Your learning experience
extends beyond the classroom.
• Add-on CONVERSATION SESSIONS (25 minutes, available depending
on level): high intensity, full immersion sessions to improve
fluency and listening.
• JOB INTERVIEW practice and & CV proofreading.

How can you do your part?

• BELIEVE IN YOURSELF – In language learning, there is no such thing
as "naturally gifted". Everyone can learn if given the right tools.
• BE BRAVE – learning a new skill can feel scary and uncomfortable.
Be brave and remember that only those who do nothig make no mistakes.
• BE PROUD – Language learning can be challenging and time
consuming. We all have busy lives and have so many things on our
mind all the time. And yet, you are here, you are showing up for yourself.
I am already proud of you, and you absolutely should be too!
• BE PATIENT – Be realistic, be kind and especially be patient!
Sometimes you'll get new things fast, sometimes you'll need a
bit longer. It's okay: breathe, regroup and keep at it.
