About Oksana

I am a dedicated and experienced Maths and Science teacher with a passion for education and a strong commitment to student success. I excel at creating engaging, interactive and effective learning environments that help students build confidence and achieve their learning goals.
My teaching approach for Junior and Senior Cycle Maths combines clear explanations, interactive lessons, problem-solving activities and real-life applications. I use educational technology and a range of teaching resources to make learning engaging and accessible. I also use formative assessment throughout the lesson to check understanding, identify areas for improvement and adapt my teaching to each student's needs.
I provide structured 60-minute lessons tailored to the individual student’s level, learning needs and goals. My aim is not only to improve academic performance but also to help students develop confidence, independent learning skills and a positive attitude towards Maths and Science.

About the lesson

As a Maths teacher for Junior and Senior Cycle students at both Ordinary and Higher Level, I use a structured and flexible approach combining clear instruction, interactive activities, problem-solving and formative assessment within a 60-minute lesson.
Introduction – 10 minutes
Briefly review previous learning, identify any difficulties and introduce the objectives for the lesson.
Direct Instruction – 15 minutes
Explain new concepts clearly using visual aids, worked examples and step-by-step explanations.
Guided Practice – 15 minutes
Work through problems together, asking questions and addressing misconceptions as they arise.
Independent Practice – 10 minutes
Give the student an opportunity to apply the new skills independently, with individual support and feedback where needed.
Assessment & Review – 10 minutes
Use short questions, quizzes or review activities to check understanding, reinforce key concepts and identify areas for further practice.
My teaching techniques include:
Differentiation: Adapting tasks and explanations to the student's current level and learning needs.
Problem-solving: Developing logical thinking and confidence in tackling unfamiliar questions.
Visual learning: Using diagrams, worked examples and visual representations to make concepts easier to understand.
Technology: Using appropriate educational software and interactive digital resources to enhance learning.
Formative assessment: Regularly checking understanding and adapting the lesson according to the student's progress.
Individualised support: Focusing on the student's specific difficulties, schoolwork and learning goals.
My aim is to help students not only improve their Maths results, but also develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards Mathematics.
Use of Technology: Incorporating educational software and interactive whiteboards.
Peer Teaching: Encouraging students to explain concepts to each other.
Real-World Applications: Demonstrating how math concepts apply to everyday life.
This structured approach ensures that all students are engaged, supported, and challenged according to their individual needs.
