About David
I have always been a student first, even as a 22-year veteran high school teacher and coach, I have always learned from my students and athletes much more than curriculum could offer. This love to learn and constant curiosity about our natural world led me to Francis Marion University in Florence, SC where I earned a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. While at FMU I worked closely with professors on an independent research project studying turtle home range. This is where I found my real love within Biology, Herpetology, the study of amphibians and reptiles, an interest that would take me to Louisiana to study foxsnake phylogenetics. There at Southeastern Louisiana, I earned a Master's Degree in Biology and garnered two publications in the Online Journal of Zoology and Comparative Herpetology. I have gained enormous background, field and lab experience, and expertise in all the biological sciences making my tutoring experience for students a unique and adventurous one! As a former Academic All-American in Track and Cross Country and 15 years high school coaching has also given me an extensive background in distance running and coaching which assists my understanding and compassion with student-athletes especially.
