Anders and I met while getting our undergraduate degree from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has always been an incredible painter who deeply values hard work and experimentation. Anders’ studio practice is very diverse in material and his knowledge of color theory is very impressive. He is already a very patient and kind teacher to all of his friends and colleagues who need help with their own practice. Anders would be a supportive and nurturing teacher to anyone who wanted to improve their skills or learn something completely new.

Ander's is one of the most thoughtful artists I have come to know. He believes in the craft and its ability to deliver messages of the utmost importance. While he has always pursued formal qualities in his work, and with great success, he does not let those abilities guide the work. Instead, I find his work to be more philosophical in nature. It's poetic, and pointed all at once.
On top of his pursuit of art making, he has a thorough grasp on the systems that govern the 'art world'. It can be hard to consider those systems while making work, I believe Ander's would be a wonderful guide in navigating those murky waters.
Mostly, Ander's is kind, funny, and serious. A fine recipe for an artist. An especially fine recipe for a teacher.

Anders is a well-rounded, respectful individual who has years of practice behind him. The passion behind his work is what makes him great. He is an amazing mentor to have and thankful for the opportunity to work with him.
