About Anastasia

Hello! I am a professional artist and experienced art tutor, originally from Belarus and now based in Tbilisi, Georgia. I am fluent in English, Russian, and Belarusian. Students from all around the world are welcome! I graduated from the St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design with a specialization in Monumental Painting, gaining a strong academic foundation in painting and drawing, as well as experience related to architecture, design, and applied arts. My professional experience includes work on frescoes, mosaics, stained glass, and projects for architectural spaces. However, over the past seven years, my focus has shifted toward contemporary painting and artistic research, and I am now developing primarily as a contemporary painter. I have over 15 years of teaching experience. During this time, around hundred of students have studied with me in drawing, painting, graphic art, comics, and scenography, many of whom have gone on to be admitted to art colleges and universities. I enjoy philosophical conversations about how art connects to life and see it as a tool for exploring the self and the world.

  • 1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

    1) I started drawing in childhood, like many children do — passionately and enthusiastically. My favourite subjects were dinosaurs and animals, and many of my friends and cousins would often ask me to draw for them. I was around 6 years old when it all began, and since then, I have never stopped drawing.
  • 2) Which artists or works affect you the most?

    2) One of the artists who affected me the most was the 15th-century Russian old master, Dionysius. His frescoes in the Ferapontov Monastery left a huge impression on me and made me want to become a professional painter. Because of this influence, I later studied monumental painting in Russia. The colours, geometry, and silhouettes in his work are incredible.
  • 3) What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

    3) In fine art and other visual arts, it is important to be able to sit with yourself for hours. It is quite an introverted practice.
  • 4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

    4) My advice would be to do a little but regularly — twice a week, or even just 20 minutes every day. The key is practice, much like in music or learning languages. Progress comes slowly, but over time it changes not only your skills, but also the way you focus and pay attention. And of course, enjoying the process is as important as the result. So sit comfortably, use good light, and good-quality art supplies.
  • 5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

    5) My passion for art is something I cannot stop doing. I simply cannot imagine myself without it. It brings me a lot of joy and vivid impressions of life. I have been drawing since childhood and have never stopped developing in this field. I read books, study artists, and explore different kinds of art from across human history — both ancient and modern.
  • 6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

    6) First of all, I am proud of my stained glass project for a Lutheran church in 2018. It consisted of 72 windows, each 5 meters high, designed for the historical building of the Annenkirche in Saint Petersburg. It took a year of work and was presented in two exhibitions — at the Academy of Arts and Design and in the church itself. This is one of my greatest sources of pride as a monumental artist. For the past seven years, I have focused on portraiture, creating a large series of works in both painting and graphic media, exploring the deep world of human existence. Again one of my sources of pride as a contemporary artist.
  • 7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

    7) Oh yes, especially children — they create exceptionally well. I am always inspired by all of my students, by their questions and perspectives on art, as each person brings something new for me to explore.
  • 8) Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

    8) I enjoy working with people and creating together. I find great joy in seeing talent grow and develop.
