About Tammy

Hi, I'm Tam, a Queensland-based primary school reading tutor passionate about helping kids build strong literacy skills and a genuine love of reading. I hold a current Blue Card and specialize in reading comprehension and spelling for primary-aged students.
My teaching style is creative and hands-on — I use games, storytelling, and interactive activities to make lessons engaging rather than repetitive. Every child learns differently, so I tailor each session to their pace, interests, and confidence level.
Whether your child needs extra support catching up or wants to build on strong foundations, I'm here to make reading feel achievable, rewarding, and even fun.

About the lesson

Each session blends structured literacy learning with creative, hands-on activities designed to keep young readers engaged and motivated. Lessons focus on building strong reading comprehension and spelling skills through a mix of guided reading, word games, and interactive exercises tailored to your child's level.
A typical lesson includes:
Guided reading practice — reading aloud together with support, discussing the story to build comprehension and vocabulary
Spelling focus — phonics-based activities, word patterns, and fun spelling games to reinforce accuracy and confidence
Hands-on learning — creative activities like flashcards, sorting games, storytelling, or craft-based tasks to make literacy concepts stick
Personalized feedback — gentle correction and encouragement to build confidence, not just correctness
Every lesson is adapted to your child's pace and interests, making reading feel less like a chore and more like an adventure — while steadily building the core literacy skills they need for school success.
