As a tutor I would first aim to find what goals the student is aiming for (grade or learning wise) and then work towards them through first identifying the flaws in learning and then fixing them through a process of revising content, exam techniques, and reenforcement through assessments.
I would try and read the content of each specific exam board myself to familiarise/re-familiarise myself with the content of the exam board.
