About Apostolos
My background is in Mathematical Physics (The University of Edinburgh), followed by an MSc and PhD in Polymer Physics (The University of Edinburgh). My teaching experience includes both higher education and secondary education (privately): Senior tutor for "Mathematics for Computer Science" course, The University of Reading (2017); Invited lecturer for "Computer Simulations of Soft Matter: Polymers - Colloids - Biomaterials" postgraduate lecture series, University of Crete, Greece (2015); PhD co-supervisor in medical physics, The University of Edinburgh (2014-5); Teaching assistant for new Master's course "Oil & Gas Engineering Systems 5"; Co-supervisor of Mechanical Engineering Master's student, The University of Edinburgh (2012); Teaching assistant for undergraduate and master's courses at The University of Edinburgh (2007-2012).

I encourage problem-based learning, where a subject is approached through solving various open-ended questions with an aim of cultivating scientific thinking, logic, and further complex problem solving skills. In this approach I promote active learning via student-to-teacher and student-to-student interaction. Based on the curriculum, I produce a written lesson plan as a guideline to achieve the learning outcomes, monitored through specific milestones. I am keen to engage in processes that correspond to the learning style of each individual, exploring visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic ways of perceiving information.
