About William

I began my post-secondary studies at the University of Waterloo in September of 2018, where I enrolled into their Physics and Astronomy Co-op program. I intend on graduating at the end of April 2024. I have always achieved good academic standing, with some especially strong marks in some of the objectively most difficult courses. Some examples of courses I have taken include a variety of courses on Quantum Mechanics, an introductory course to General Relativity, and 2 courses on Mathematical Physics, the lattermost of which I achieved a grade of 100% in.

I worked 3 co-ops at the cybersecurity company Arctic Wolf, on the R&D Technical Training team, where my primary duty was to create training modules for my colleagues in the R&D department. I also created a preparation program for a Certification Exam to become an Amazon Web Service Certified Cloud Practitioner. Several colleagues participated in this program and were quite successful in their exam certification.

I also have several years of leadership experience. I served as the leader of the University of Waterloo Warriors Band for 4 years, where the band played at sports events, in parades, and at various events around the University of Waterloo Campus. During this time, I introduced many new members to the band and was always willing to teach them our music in detail, and serve as a mentor during their experience in the band.

About the lesson

I believe that a good teacher takes time to know their students, which is something I always aim to do! I believe that a strong lesson structure includes an introduction to the topic, starting with the general concepts and then introducing more specific details. I also like to include examples, starting with some simple ones, and then working through some more challenging ones. If at any point in time, if anything is unclear, I encourage questions. Finally, I think that it is important to provide some exercises for the students to try on their own, while the teacher is there to provide some guidance upon request. As someone who has always excelled in physics and mathematics, I was always willing to help those around me understand the subjects better. I am comfortable creating lessons for everyone up to and including introductory university-level content.
