About Devon
I am currently acquiring a degree in philosophy and ancient languages at U Vic. My musical experience has been 6 years of taking private lessons, as well as completing the Certificate of Music Foundations in Jazz Drumming through Camosun College and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. I have played several small jazz gigs with a band here in Victoria, and have played extensively in christian worship bands within various church settings.

I offer developmental drum lessons for individuals based on the techniques and methods I learned from my own instructors through the years.
I believe that the best way to learn the drums is to learn and practice a diversity of genres before deciding to specialize, and to build one's skill from a "bottom up" methodology. I spent the first year of my own lessons developing simple hand and wrist techniques before moving on to a full drum kit, which proved to be invaluable for me, however, I realize that some students prefer to start learning rhythms and full-kit beats sooner than a whole year, and am willing to create a curriculum that would suit each students needs in relation to what they desire to reap from an investment in drum lessons.
One hour lessons or even more seem to have been the most productive in my experience, therefore I offer lessons of at least one hour.
In addition, if it is an interest of the student, I am willing to offer lessons and insights from a philosophical perspective, as well lessons in philosophy itself. I believe that learning an instrument involves much more than mere wrist movements and muscle coordination, it is a process of existential development just as much as it is musical.
I come to you!
