About Merve
I am a PhD researcher in Biomedical Engineering currently studying in the UK through a government scholarship. Alongside my research, I have worked as a demonstrator in university laboratories, supporting students during practical sessions and engineering activities. I have also completed the Introduction to Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ILTHE) training programme.
I completed my MSc in Biomedical Engineering and previously graduated from a Teacher Training High School, where I developed strong communication and teaching skills. I believe every student can improve with the right explanation and approach.
I enjoy helping students gain confidence in maths, develop logical thinking skills, and learn in a supportive and patient environment.

I teach Maths for students of all ages, from primary school children to GCSE and A-Level students. Rather than focusing on memorisation, I explain topics through real-life examples, visual models, and practical ways of thinking that help students truly understand the logic behind mathematics. I aim to make maths more visual and engaging, which allows younger students especially to build confidence and enjoy learning.
I adapt my teaching style to each student’s age and level, covering topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I also offer beginner coding lessons with Python and Arduino. My lessons focus on developing understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a supportive and patient environment.
Lessons are usually taught online in flexible 1–2 hour sessions, but face-to-face lessons may also be available for students based in Newcastle.
