About Melina

Hello! I am a PhD student at UNC Chapel Hill. I have been tutoring students from middle school to undergraduate levels for 7 years. I also teach college level biology lab and recitation-lecture courses.
I am extremely passionate about teaching and discovering ways to help my students learn best. I believe any student can excel in any subject and it is my goal to help them do so.

About the lesson

I design lessons to make difficult concepts easy to understand and remember. I believe it is essential to personalize my teaching style to fit my student's learning style to foster student success.

In a typical lesson, we will start with a memory check of previous materials, discuss new material, and end with a lesson review.

Memory check and review formats include flash cards, multiple choice questions, spoken questions, short answer questions, or drawing visuals. Similarly, I teach new concepts using visuals, drawings, flash cards, and mnemonics. I modify what learning tools I utilize in a lesson based on what helps each student succeed.

I tutor students from high school to collegiate levels.
High school: AP chemistry, standard/honors chemistry.
College: general/intro chemistry
