About Arman

I am a PhD researcher in mathematics with an MSc in Statistics and a BSc in Applied Math, and over 8 years of teaching experience. I have taught different settings, from private 1-1 classes to large lecture halls, so I am comfortable adapting to each student’s needs.

I take a personalized approach to tutoring. Together, we will identify what is holding you back, strengthen your understanding, and build your confidence step by step, whether your goal is to pass, improve, or excel.

Math is what I do every day, and I enjoy helping students not only achieve better grades but also feel more confident and capable.

I create tailored learning plans based on your goals and learning style to help you get the most out of every session.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

Problem-solving has always been a growing passion in me. I get the utmost feeling of triumph when I experience the "aha moment" when the correct answer to a problem becomes clear. The pursuit of mathematics is fueled by genuine joy for its mysteries, contributing to the profound purpose of science-to bring fascination to our existence and making us explorers of the unknown. Mathematics instills curiosity, pushing us to understand that what is known to us is but a fraction compared to the vast unknown. This curiosity and motivation for problem-solving led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics. Further fueled by the integration of computer sciences in hands-on problem-solving, I found myself deeply drawn to the field of statistical machine learning and data science, which I am currently pursuing as a graduate student University of Calgary.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

Mathematics is not just a subject; it's a force that underlies solutions to real-world problems, such as early cancer diagnosis through artificial intelligence. The unimaginable applications of mathematics in diverse fields, contributing to solutions that literally save lives, further strengthen my passion for this subject.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Teaching mathematics is a means of facilitating students' learning process. I employ specialized strategies derived from my experience helping a significant number of students reach their academic goals. Having experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and levels, I know the specific parts that the students may struggle in. My approach is to identify each student's strengths and weaknesses and tailor my teaching methods to their background to help them achieve the best. I always ensure that each student receives personalized guidance. None of my lessons is a repetition of the other. My commitment to student success and supportive approach define my role as a "Superprof."
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Throughout my academic life, I have had the privilege of encountering numerous inspiring and well-known professors in mathematics. However, the one mathematician who had a lasting impression on me was the Field;'s Medalist, Maryam Mirzakhani. Hearing about her characteristics and reading her published papers, I realized the importance of combining knowledge with humbleness, understanding, and flexibility. This realization has shaped my commitment to being an empathetic and approachable educator.
  • What are your keys to success?

My primary goal is to nurture analytical minds. I teach my students how to solve the problems on their own, rather than being reliant on others, aiming to transfer my problem-solving skills through precise analysis of each student's specific needs. I aim to empower them to achieve their goals by working alongside them, ensuring they feel supported and capable of reaching their goals.
