About Luba
Qualifications & Experience
I hold a PhD in Biochemistry from University College London (UCL) and have extensive academic experience in molecular biology, organic chemistry and enzyme systems. At UCL, I have taught and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students, delivered laboratory teaching, and contributed to the design and delivery of teaching materials in molecular biology and protein science.
This academic background enables me to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and accurately, while tailoring explanations to GCSE and A-level specifications and exam requirements.

My Approach to Tutoring
I take a structured approach to tutoring. My aim is to ensure that students genuinely understand the underlying principles so they can apply knowledge confidently in exams.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques
-I begin by identifying gaps in understanding and misconceptions.
-Complex topics are broken down into clear, logical steps.
-I use diagrams, mechanisms, worked examples and exam-style questions to reinforce learning.
-For chemistry and biochemistry, I emphasise underlying principles and problem-solving rather than rote memorisation.
-For biology, I focus on building clear conceptual frameworks and linking processes together.
Lessons are interactive. I ask students to explain concepts back to me, solve problems live, and think through reasoning aloud — this builds confidence and deeper understanding.
Lesson Length
Typical lessons are 60 minutes, depending on the student’s level and concentration.
