About Pragya
Hi, I’m Pragya, an honors Penn State student with a strong academic background in math and analytical problem-solving. I take a structured, professional, and student-centered approach to tutoring, with a focus on helping students truly understand the material they are learning in school rather than simply memorizing steps.
I am patient, reliable, and highly organized, and I take pride in creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I understand that every student learns differently, and I work closely with each one to adapt my teaching style to their needs, pace, and goals. I am attentive to creating lessons that are engaging, focused, and confidence-building.

My approach to math tutoring focuses on building strong foundations, confidence, and genuine understanding. I work closely with students to help them succeed in their current classes, guiding them through homework and in-class material while also providing extra practice to reinforce key concepts. My goal is to make math feel more approachable and manageable, not overwhelming.
I tutor elementary through early high school students, including those who need homework support, foundational skill building, or extra confidence in math. Subjects include elementary math, pre-algebra, geometry, and Algebra I and II.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and flexible. I explain concepts step by step, adjust pacing as needed, and use visual examples and real-world connections to support different learning styles. I also have experience working with students with ADHD, and I incorporate strategies that help with focus, engagement, and organization during lessons.
A typical lesson:
- Begins with a brief check-in or review of what the student is currently learning in class
- Work through homework questions or challenging topics together
- Targeted instruction and additional practice problems to strengthen understanding
- Ends with a short recap to reinforce what was covered and identify next steps
