About Kanan
Hi, I’m Kanan, a dedicated nursing student with a strong academic background and a passion for helping others succeed. With years of experience tutoring younger students, I’ve developed a teaching style that’s patient, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s unique needs. I believe that everyone can achieve academic success with the right guidance and support. Whether you’re struggling to grasp a difficult science concept, want to improve your writing skills, or need help preparing for exams, I’m here to make learning less stressful and more effective. I take pride in being reliable, organized, and easy to talk to. You can count on me to show up prepared, make lessons enjoyable, and help you build both knowledge and confidence. Let’s work together to reach your academic goals!

As a tutor, my approach is centered around adaptability, clarity, and encouragement. I believe that every student has a unique way of understanding and processing information, so I tailor each lesson to suit the individual’s learning style whether visual, auditory, or hands-on. My goal is to not only help students understand the material but also to build their confidence and foster a genuine interest in the subject.
Teaching Methodology and Techniques
I use a student-focused and interactive teaching style. Before diving into new content, I assess the student's current understanding to identify any knowledge gaps. I use active learning techniques such as:
Real-life examples to relate concepts to everyday experiences (especially effective in science and health-related subjects).
Analogies and storytelling to simplify complex ideas.
Guided problem-solving, where I encourage the student to attempt solutions while offering support as needed.
Question prompts that encourage critical thinking rather than rote memorization.
To reinforce learning, I also assign tailored practice questions or short, practical tasks that the student can complete between sessions. Feedback is always constructive and encouraging, aimed at helping students reflect and improve.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session typically follows a structured, yet flexible format:
Warm-up Review (5–10 minutes):
We briefly go over previous content or homework to reinforce retention and address any lingering confusion.
New Concept Introduction (20–25 minutes):
I introduce new material in a clear, step-by-step manner, using diagrams, examples, and interactive discussions to keep the student engaged.
Application & Practice (15–20 minutes):
We work through questions or case examples together. I use guided questioning to encourage independent thinking and ensure understanding.
Wrap-up and Reflection (5 minutes):
I summarize the key takeaways, highlight progress made, and set goals for the next session.
This structure ensures a balanced approach between instruction, engagement, and independent application.
What Sets Me Apart
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my ability to make students feel comfortable and capable. As a nursing student myself, I understand how overwhelming academic pressures can be. I bring patience, empathy, and encouragement into every session. I also draw from my healthcare background and real-world experience to explain abstract concepts in ways that feel relevant and meaningful.
In addition, I’m in the process of expanding my own tutoring business, which has helped me develop strong organizational skills, professional responsibility, and a deeper commitment to individualized education.
Target Audience
My lessons are best suited for:
Middle school and high school students who need help with science, English, or general study strategies.
Early college or pre-nursing students who want support with foundational health sciences.
Students preparing for standardized tests or entrance exams (with a focus on comprehension and confidence-building).
Learners who benefit from a patient, step-by-step approach and want a tutor who can connect course content to real-life applications.
