About Violet
Studying English (Language and Literature) is invaluable as a student as it helps to shape you into a competitive candidate: from articulating yourself well in an interview to writing a coherent and nuanced essay. However, I know the subject doesn’t come naturally to everyone, and I enjoy finding new ways to teach and spark and interest in the subject. I have taught adults, teens and children from all kinds of backgrounds, so I would love to help create an inclusive and welcoming environment for you. After getting 7 A*s at GCSE and 4 A*s in A-Levels, I graduated from Oxford Law last year, so I'm happy to discuss legal career goals if this is something you're interested in too.

Lessons will be largely tailored to needs of student as the subject is so broad; I'll usually aim to start with a consultation to discuss where you're at and what you need (e.g. trying to go from a level 6 in English GCSE to a level 8) and then create a roadmap forward. I'm more than happy to explain things using different styles of learning like diagrams or flowcharts, as this can help to visualise or break down a concept. If we're doing textual analysis, we can do this in multiple layers: e.g. what is the text telling us, what can we infer, what does the fictional context tell us and what does the context of the writer tell us - I'll do this with short, easy methods that cater to your exam needs so you can recall them quickly in an exam.

Perfect! She teaches really well.
- Lydia's daughter Tiffany displays analytical thinking skills and the potential to do well in English, as at an early key stage 3 level she is able to identify x issue and how it relates to her current text; from herein we shall be focussing on the English skills necessary to turn these ideas into an essay answer.Violet's response :
