About Joan
I have been studying music since I was 8 years old but when I was younger I liked having instruments in my hands. I started playing the clarinet, later I discovered the role of electric bass in jazz and modern music. Still, I have always disliked music classes as they are in schools, institutes and most music education centers (the life of composers and the "little flute" ...). So I propose to give different classes to those mentioned to try to awaken interest in music to those who dare to share their hours with me. If there is something that I love, it is to play with other people as freely as possible and enjoy it!

Hello! I am Joan, I have been in the musical world for more than 12 years and I considered starting teaching in order to share knowledge and educational experiences with other music lovers. At the same time, I am combining my studies with the degree of architecture. When we go on an adventure to learn a new language, our most important tools are hearing and voice. We follow a process based on listening, learning and expressing. In music, therefore, where from small cells (notes, rhythms, silences, etc.) we build complex structures with a meaning (motifs, lines, phrases, etc.) we will follow the same method, with the difference that, apart from the voice, we can express ourselves through the interaction of our hands and our body with a musical instrument. Therefore, the sessions will work from three premises: analytical listening, technique and improvisation. - Analytical listening: taking the references to the taste of the student, the music produced by our favorite artists will be audited and we will discover what resources they use to give their music meaning. In this way we will learn new words and structures that we can use in our expression. - Technique: We will try to avoid any theoretical technical work detached from the expression, since we understand that technique should be a tool that allows us to communicate more easily. So, you will work with exercises applied to different progressions and harmonies. - Improvisation: the objective is to express ourselves with our instrument. Most of the session will be dedicated to working on the creative aspect, starting with learning patterns of different styles, creating our own lines on chord progressions, analyzing our favorite songs and improvising on their harmony, etc. I think, and have been able to verify, that the best way to learn is by explaining the knowledge to other people. So, the classes I give are reciprocal and both teacher and student always leave class knowing something new.

In case of cancellation of a class, it must be notified with the recommended advance of at least 5 days for a better organization of all. Still, we can all expect unforeseen events, so don't worry if you give a short notice;)
