Welcome to my tutoring profile!
Hello there! I'm a passionate and experienced teacher and tutor, dedicated to making education both enjoyable and effective. No matter where you are in your learning path, I'll be here to support you.

My Background in Tutoring :
I bring with me a diverse tutoring and teaching background that spans the globe. I currently tutor students in GCSE/KS3 Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry and English as a Second Language. I previously worked as a High School Science and English teacher in Thailand and I've also worked as a primary school teacher for English, Maths, Science, and Cultural Studies in India and Ghana.

My academic background :
Armed with a degree in Neuroscience and hands-on research experience, I have a solid grasp of how our brains absorb knowledge. I put this knowledge to good use in any areas of my life that require learning, such as when I write articles in my current role as a medical writer for Klarity health in addition to my roles as a teacher and tutor. I would love to share these tips and tricks with you!

My teaching Approach :
My teaching approach is all about engagement, collaboration and building learner independence. However, there's no one-size-fits-all here! I believe in an personalised blend of interactive multimedia resources and student-tutor collaboriation, with an emphasis on grasping core concepts and instilling key thinking skills and using teaching techniques like elicitation and enhanced spaced repetition. This will equip you with practical skills and knowledge that you can confidently apply in a variety of situations.

To start off, we'll begin with a friendly questionnaire and introduction. This will help me understand your strengths, pinpoint areas for growth, and align with your learning preferences. Together, we'll set achievable goals and create a tailored learning experience. Regular assessments will be our compass to track your progress and celebrate your accomplishments.

About the lesson

Here's some information on my tutoring methods:

- I will first do a questionnaire to discover the starting level of the student in terms of what content has been covered, their strengths and weaknesses, targets for the tutoring, as well as individual needs and preferences.
- Regular assessments can be done to measure improvements in target areas as agreed with the student.
- My teaching techniques will vary depending on the topic and individual but for effective learning, I rely on enhanced spaced repetition with elicitation, concept checking, and interactive/multimedia resources.
- I focus on building confidence partly by finding the student's strengths, highlighting these, and showing how they can be utilized to their advantage
- I also strive to build learner independence by focusing on teaching the most broadly applicable knowledge and skills.
