- What kind of experience do you have?

Neil is a qualified teacher with more than thirty years' experience as an English teacher, headteacher, university lecturer and educational research specialist.
He has taught in the UK, Europe and South-East Asia and has held teaching positions at both the School of Education and School of Medicine at the University of Birmingham.

He is registered with the General Teaching Council and is both a Fellow of the College of Teachers and of the Royal Society for Public Health.

Neil specialises in teaching EFL to students, professionals and academics seeking to work in the UK, and English Language and Literature at KS3, GCSE, A level and IB.

I have students from the local neighbourhood in Birmingham as well as some international visitors. Students last year, for example, included visitors from Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Greece, Hungary, India, Iraq, Italy, Latvia, Libya, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Switzerland.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

English/EFL Tuition and Academic Support.
English tuition includes courses for GCSE & IGCSE English, and preparation for AS and A2 English Language and Literature.
EFL includes General English, Business and Academic English,preparation for Cambridge exams and IELTS. (See our dedicated EFL website (concealed information)

- Tell me about your qualifications.

CELTA; BEd; MA; PhD.

- How much do you charge?

Fees range from £15 per person per hour for groups of 3 or more, and from £30 per person per hour for 1-to-1 tuition

- Where do you teach?

I teach from our home classroom in Malvern, Worcestershire. We are close to Worcester and well-served by bus and rail connections.

- When are you available?

Open from 9am to 8pm Monday - Thursday, and from 9am-4pm on Fridays.
We are closed all day on Saturday, and offer a small number of 1-to-1 classes on Sunday afternoons.
In addition, we offer two group classes on Sunday mornings: 10.30-11.30am (EFL) and 12noon-1pm (GCSE). These are in small groups of 3/4 and cost £20 per student.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

All ages from 14 years upwards, but specialising in GCSE and A-level.
I teach Year 10 and 11 students for GCSE, IGCSE and Years 12 and 13 for A-level. I am happy to support university and adult students with EFL tuition, help with academic writing and preparation for Cambridge exams and IELTS.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

GCSE & IGCSE English Language and/or Literature, AS & A2, and IB.
EFL exam preparation includes IELTS and the full range of Cambridge English tests.
We also offer academic support and academic writing tutorials and proofreading for BA/BSc MA/MSc, PhD.
We offer proof-reading support for research writing for publication.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

Our online students usually buy a bundle of hours in advance. We charge £30 per hour for non-exam classes and £35 for exam prep, with 5-hour bundles charged at £150 and £175 respectively. Lessons can be as short or as long as needed, and lessons can be booked to suit availability until the package is used-up.
