About John Felipe
In Summer 2017, I had the privilege of leading a three-week long Summer ESL Camp in Eastern Europe, one in Hungary and Slovakia. I taught beginner and intermediate level classes containing 5-25 that range from Pre-K to Adults. In addition, I was responsible for creating lessons and activities that catered to students of various learning levels and interests. I taught students the language through modelling, music, and visual imagery. I also had students demonstrate their understanding of the language through trivia, open discussions, pantomime, and musical performances. As a result, students were able to have improved confidence and knowledge in doing English-based conversations.

My teaching method comes in four steps. The four steps are open discussion, modelling, guided practice, and authentic assessment. I provide my lessons to students ranging from elementary to high school students. In languages, I believe that the best way to learn to actually use it as if it is a real-world scenario. In addition, I help reinforce what is taught by providing music containing the language concepts, guiding questions, and differentiation. I believe that the best way to learn a language is to USE the language. I also believe that language develops better social competency for students.
