My methodology of teaching is:
The basic of yoga is Surya namaskar and pranayamam. When you know the correct way of doing them you can surely say you have a basic in yoga.So my first step is make you understand their importance and add them in your daily routine with love.
Later based on your age,health problems if any, and your main intention and intuition of learning yoga we suggest you the asanas that suits you.
