About Jerome

Hey I’m Jerome, an Art Teacher and professional artist and illustrator based in London. One of those guys who’s always has a sketchbook on him. My intention as a tutor is to share skills, ideas and experience with anyone who wishes to develop a practice within visual arts. I’m happy to cater an experience specifically to what my student requires. In my professional and personal practice, I’ve created fine works, exhibited in galleries, designed characters, created album covers, and explored a plethora of mediums in both digital and traditional formats. I specialise in drawing, inking and portraiture. Working as an educator over the last 3 years has been a lovely experience. To be able to share ideas, grow, explore and motivate students to better themselves and create things they thought they couldn’t has become an honour. Being able to see and explore a student's visual language feels extremely positive and progressive.

About the lesson

My aim is to teach art fundamentals and invite imagination for anyone who wants to learn how to draw, design, and create exciting spaces and characters. Anatomy, mark-making, perspective and design and research are at the core of my teaching. Lessons will be built around these elements. My lessons are designed for beginners and intermediate students. For beginner students, my intention would be to expose them to drawing and painting principles such as form, shape, line, tonal range and colour theory whilst maintaining creativity to apply these rules. My intention for intermediate students is to double down on the skills I have mentioned prior but focusing on more critical and playful ways to utilise these skills such as storytelling and the art of image making, exploring how to convey feeling within an image. I would like to emphasise that my intention is to build off the students' ideas and offer advice that will allow them to grow in the direction that they have intended. With a BA in Games Art and a completed scholarship studying at The Royal Drawing School, I believe with varied knowledge in illustration, graphic design and fine art I can assist the development of anyone wishing to pursue a craft in visual arts whether it be for fun or academically.
