About Connor
Currently in the second year of my Ph.D. studies at a respected U.K. research institution. I specialise in modern history and my thesis is being written in the role of emotions in social and political change, as a micro historical study. I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on reaction of the English enlightenment to the French Revolution, and my Master’s dissertation was conducted on modern New Religious Movements. Prior to university I completed the Cambridge Pre U History qualification alongside my A levels.
Throughout this time, I have (with the exception of a few months, here and there) always supported myself through part time industrial and retail work.

My teaching method is 1 on 1, individual focused. Like most tutors, I don’t simply hand answers out but work through problems with students to help them build the framework to individually solve similar problems in future.
When it comes to History, anyone can memorise dates. But a historian’s job first and foremost is analysis - and this is exactly what examiners, and teachers, look for.
Lesson structure would be discussed to accommodate a students individual needs. Generally, however, lessons would include a mix of primary source analysis, as well as independent analysis of secondary materials. Core questions would be asked during each section of the lesson intended to help my student develop his or her independent analytical skills. A core focus of mine, furthermore, is to help my students develop formal writing skills to put their analysis on paper in a fluent, cohesive manner.
