About Austin
For the past 10 years I have planned and executed multiple research projects within the laboratory. Additionally, I have trained multiple students, faculty, and staff at varying experience levels in a variety of topics, techniques, and skill-sets. I also oversaw and managed multiple projects and developed a large portfolio of published works.
I have had the honor and privilege to learn from, and work alongside, a diverse and inclusive community based upon the mutual and respectful exchange of perspectives, personal experiences, and ideas that enhance the quality of our learning and interactions. I believe this is a foundational requirement of, and for, scholars that is conducive to the personal and intellectual growth of students.
I enjoy uncovering new questions, and finding answers to them. Problem-solving, creativity, and critical-thinking are skills I enjoy using when faced with a challenge. I also enjoy teaching and inspiring these attributes in others.

To determine the needs of individual learners I obtain an initial assessment to determine their current understanding of the subject, as a starting point and what areas they wish to focus on so that course planning reflects their needs. It is also an indicator as to whether learners are on the right level of course.
I am a big proponent of associative learning that facilitates complete understanding of big picture subjects rather than basic memorization. I want to inspire others to enjoy science as much as I do!
Major topics of focus are related to biology, marine science, ecology, neuroscience, behavior, anatomy, physiology, immunology, molecular biology, and more. Willing and capable of teaching any learning level!
