About Marc

I graduated PreMed with a 3.94 GPA at McGill University, and high school with a French Baccalaureate specialized in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Having scored in the 100th percentile in the Physics/Chemistry section on the MCAT, I know my topics, and love working with my students so I can help them achieve their academic goals. I believe my experience teaching tough topics to university students as well as tutoring my siblings in high school sets me apart and helps me understand each student's learning styles and habits. This way, I can better adapt my lectures to their specific needs.

Lessons are for middle school to college-level students, in the topics of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

As an ex Calculus II and General Chemistry tutor for McGill university, I believe teaching should be proactive, so I try to involve the student as much as I can during our sessions.
I believe my experience teaching tough topics to university students as well as tutoring my siblings in high school sets me apart and helps me understand each student's learning styles and habits, so I can better adapt my lectures to their needs.

A typical lesson starts with reading and understanding the topic, after which the student and I will dissect together some exercises. I then present some applications for the student to do on their own, so we can find weak points and concentrate on them. Finally, I like to give some work for the student to attempt in their own time, specifically targeting their weak points and key ideas of the topics we studied together.

  • 1) When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My interest in science started early, but it really developed during my studies at McGill
University, where I completed a degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology. During my
undergraduate training, I realized that subjects like mathematics, physics, and chemistry
are fundamental tools for understanding biology and medicine.
Chemistry explains how molecules interact in the body, physics helps us understand
physiological systems like blood flow and pressure, and mathematics is essential for
analyzing scientific data. Seeing how these disciplines connect in real-world
applications made me very interested in teaching them. I will be starting medical school
this fall, and tutoring allows me to help students build strong foundations in these core
    scientific subjects.
  • 2) What makes you passionate about your subject?

What makes these subjects particularly fascinating to me is how they explain the
fundamental principles behind how the world works. Mathematics provides the language
and structure for problem-solving, physics describes the laws that govern natural
phenomena, chemistry explains interactions at the molecular level, and biology shows
how these processes come together to create living systems.
What I find especially interesting is how these disciplines build on one another. For
example, many biological processes are ultimately driven by chemical reactions, which
themselves follow physical laws that can be described mathematically. Seeing how
these different fields connect creates a deeper understanding of science as a whole.
This interconnected nature of science is what makes studying these subjects so
engaging. Each concept learned adds another piece to a larger framework that helps
explain complex systems in a logical and meaningful way.
  • 3) What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a “Superprof”?

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students overcome the moment when a
subject feels confusing or overwhelming. Many students struggle not because they lack
ability, but because the material was not explained in a way that suited their way of
    thinking.
My goal is to break down complex concepts into clear steps and help students build
confidence in problem solving. My academic background at McGill and my preparation
for medical school have required strong analytical and scientific skills, which I bring into

my tutoring sessions. I focus on clarity, patience, and adapting my teaching style to
    each student.
  • 4) Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Throughout my studies, I had several teachers and professors who made a strong
impression on me. The ones who inspired me most were those who could take
complicated ideas in science and explain them in a simple and intuitive way.
They showed me that great teaching is not just about knowledge, but about
communication and patience. That approach strongly influenced the way I tutor today,
as I try to make challenging subjects more accessible and engaging for my students.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

My keys to success are consistency, strong fundamentals, and curiosity. In subjects like
math and science, understanding the basic principles is essential because more
advanced topics build directly on them.
I encourage students to practice regularly, ask questions, and focus on understanding
the reasoning behind solutions rather than just memorizing steps. With the right
approach and consistent effort, students can make significant progress and gain
confidence in subjects that once seemed difficult.
