About Barathan
Mathematics isn't just about numbers and formulas. It's about understanding the world around us and I believe anyone can master it with the right guidance!
I hold a Master's research degree in biomedical engineering from Monash University and have authored 4 original, mathematics-centered research papers published in Q1 peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Professionally, I work as a Computer Vision Engineer, whereby I continuously learn and apply mathematics, probability, statistics, data science and artificial intelligence to solve real-world engineering challenges that involve computer vision and robotics.
My academic research and professional experience have taught me that truly understanding WHY something works is far more valuable than simply knowing HOW to use it. This philosophy forms the foundation of my teaching approach.
Whether you are a complete beginner who has never felt comfortable with mathematics, a student tackling challenging subjects or a working professional exploring data science, my goal is to make learning intuitive, practical and enjoyable.
You don't need to be good at mathematics to start learning. You just need curiosity and a willingness to try. I will help you build the understanding and confidence from there!

I believe mathematics is for everyone, regardless of their educational background or prior knowledge!
My Teaching Approach:
(1) Break down complex mathematical concepts into simple, intuitive explanations using simple analogies and real-world examples.
(2) Focus on understanding the WHY behind formulas rather than memorizing them.
(3) Combine mathematical theory with practical problem-solving, data analysis and Python programming where relevant.
(4) Personalize lessons according to each student's knowledge, learning pace and goals.
Lesson Duration:
Typically 60 minutes to 180 minutes, with flexibility depending on learning needs and preferences.
My Qualifications:
(1) I hold a Master of Engineering Science (Research) degree from Monash University.
(2) Author of 4 original-research, mathematics-centered research papers published in Q1 peer-reviewed scientific journals.
(3) Professional Computer Vision Engineer that regularly applies mathematics, statistics and data science to real-world engineering problems.
