I teach a wide range of subjects in Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering, along with specialized preparation for standardized tests such as the SAT and European exams like CAST/EPSO (Numerical and Abstract Reasoning).

I have experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds. My approach is based on segmentation, visualization of progress, measurable results, and consistent practice. When a student struggles, I focus on analyzing the root cause of the learning difficulty and developing strategies to overcome it—while always keeping motivation at the center.

A typical 1-hour lesson might look like this:

20 minutes: review & Q&A to detect gaps

30 minutes: advancing through new material and guided exercises

10 minutes: lateral thinking, problem-solving strategies, and exam techniques

Of course, there is no “universal” method—what works for one student may not work for another. The true goal of private lessons is adaptation: finding the right approach to inspire confidence, boost performance, and help each student reach their objectives—whether that means mastering calculus, preparing for a physics exam, or achieving a top score in SAT or CAST reasoning tests.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I studied aerospace engineering in the Polytechnic University of Madrid. College in Spain is a completely different experience than in the US. For the worse. The environment is hostile and only one out of three students used to finish the degree. Even though there were some valid professors, most of them were awful. So often I have wondered how different my life would have been with good ones. Teachers and instructors who not only have great amounts of knowledge in what they do, but also a great passion to transmit that and to inspire. That is what I intend to be.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

As is visible in my profile I teach several disciplines and technologies. They are all either deeply connected to each other or learning one will totally help you learn the others. They all have in common that they are intrinsically complicated. That difficulty derives from the fact that you need to understand long chains of concepts to be proficient at them. There is no way around but to be very consistent. So the key to success is much more about the methodology to be that perseverant than the topics surrounding the subjects themselves.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I do have several role models in teaching. I would mention two teachers that left a long lasting impact on me. My technical drawing teacher in tenth grade showed me how to manage complicated subjects by focusing on "working with the system" instead of trying to grasp everything right away. Deep understanding would come later, naturally. Another honorable mention was my math teacher of grades 9 and 12. I learned from him the importance of humor and having fun while transmitting very hard concepts.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs to first master the subject he is teaching. He has to be very far away from the student level in that matter. But this seems quite obvious and the pure basics of teaching. I like my teachers to treat me like a college, like an equal in the humble process of becoming wiser. An educator has to connect deeply with their students. Particularly in one to one sessions that are so personal. Being a good inspiration and a motivator are also very desirable qualities. And finally a teacher is someone whom one is accountable to.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I was in sixth grade a math teacher told us that Pythagoras spent the last half of his life calculating decimals of Pi. That he managed to get to two millions of them. But when he had calculated around one million he made a mistake. This story is so easily proven false in so many ways that every year that passes I discover a new form to refute it. Bad teaching has long standing effects...
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I always tell my students that I am closer to them in knowledge in any subject than to a Nobel prize winner or a Fields medalist. Even though I study daily for several hours there is not a single week that I do not hear or discover a new branch of the discipline. It can be really overwhelming.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I do. Learning is a great passion. Kendo (japanese fencing) is another one. So much so that at some point in my life I will move to Japan to practice every minute of my free time. I also love nature and experience it through hiking and diving.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

What makes me a superprof is that I care a lot and I give myself fully to my students. Also I spent countless hours tracking their progress and motivating them hors sessions. I just want them to go far beyond what I have managed to achieve.
