About Emilie

I've always had a strong connection to math and enjoyed helping others understand it in a way that actually makes sense. I'm especially passionate about algebra and high school-level geometry, and I also have a background in basic accounting and business math.
I discovered early on that I had a talent for explaining math. While I was still in middle school, I helped my brothers successfully pass their high school math classes. That experience showed me how powerful clear explanations and patience can be, and it is something I've carried with me ever since.
I completed most of a college accounting program, which strengthened my logical thinking and problem-solving skills. I enjoy breaking complex ideas into simpler pieces and helping students see how everything connects.
As a tutor, I'm patient, supportive, and encouraging. I understand that math can feel intimidating or frustrating, and I aim to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where students can ask questions and build confidence at their own pace.
Helping students feel more capable and confident in math is what motivates me, and I truly enjoy seeing that progress happen.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, supportive and focused on building step-by-step confidence.
I believe all math starts with the basics and builds from there. When something feels hard, it's usually because a foundational concept didn't fully click earlier. I take time to identify those gaps and strengthen them so new topics make more sense and feel less overwhelming. I start each lesson by figuring out what you already understand and where things begin to feel confusing. From there, I break concepts down into clear, logical steps and explain the why behind the math—not just how to get the answer. Questions are always encouraged, and I make sure you feel comfortable asking them.

During lessons we may:
-Review class material or homework
-Revisit foundational skills when needed
-Work through practice problems together
-Learn problem-solving strategies
-Prepare for quizzes or exams
Each lesson is tailored to the student's level, goals, and learning style. Whether you need ongoing support or short-term help, my goal is for you to leave every session feeling more confident, more capable, and better prepared.
