About Nay

I am a graduate teacher. I have achieved a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from UWA and a Master of Teaching from Curtin University. I have also taught my brother and his friends mathematics lessons during their primary and middle school. They have done well and my brother was awarded as young valedictorian during his middle school years. They would always earn As and A*s in maths.

About the lesson

I usually incorporate storytelling to make connections to real-world scenarios and also regularly ask students if they know what they're doing. Since young students usually find maths boring and hard, I try to teach them with images and I try to find opportunities to differentiate learning. I would incorporate fun activities to gain their attention.

Perfect! Nay was an amazing tutor for year 12 mathematical methods. Even though she lived in Western Australia, she had a broad knowledge of the mathematics curriculum in Queensland. Nay was a friendly, patient, helpful, kind and considerate tutor. She spent time to tutor me for mathematics and also get to know me as a person. She got to know my hobbies and interests and used these to tailor her teaching throughout her sessions. Nay also offered me some advice on post-school options and told me about her experience in uni and becoming a teacher. Nay would always make sure that I knew that she was there to support me and that I could talk to her about anything. If I had trouble understanding a concept or math equation, she would spend the time to go through the process step-by-step in different ways until I understood. She always allowed time for questions and encouraged me to try to do the equations for myself before helping me to understand how to get to the answer. As a year 12 student, Nay helped me so much and I was delighted to achieve an ATAR of 93 with her support. I also received an early offer from my dream university upon my high school graduation. Even though I have left high school now and I am studying to pursue my future career, I still remember the immense impact that Nay ultimately had on my schooling and being able to get to where I am now at university. Thank you Nay and good luck for the future. You are an incredible tutor and you will be an incredible school teacher!

Nay is a good friend of mine and she’s always easy to converse with. She has always been diligent and supportive, so she knows when I need a push to get things done. She has helped me in my studies, listened to my problems and always guide me as an older sister.
During my IGCSEs, we were studying together and i couldn’t solve a maths problem. Nay offered to help and solve the question with ease and was incredibly patient. Jokingly told her to become a teacher since she got all the skills a teacher need and now she’s going for it, and I couldn’t be happier for her and what she has to offer in the future.
