About Eli
My name is Eli and I study Artificial Intelligence at the University of Utrecht. In the 4 years that I've been studying now, I've learned a lot about programming. In my studies I see a lot of people who avoid programming courses because they think they are not good enough at programming. I think that's a shame!
I would like to introduce everyone to programming because even though it can be very frustrating in the beginning, once you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun! And very useful!

Programming is great fun but can be very frustrating at times. The lesson will mainly consist of making assignments where I will always be present for questions. I chose this format because I know from my own experience that programming is something you just have to do. You have to find out for yourself what works and what doesn't.
For beginners it is important to first become familiar with the basic methods in the relevant language. It is also important to choose an IDE (a kind of word for programming) that suits you well and to become familiar with it.
Once you have this foundation, it is important to apply this knowledge to some more difficult tasks. You learn how to make a coherent whole of your code and how to check and repair it if something turns out to be wrong (debugging)
Finally, you learn how to work in a structured way. You get an assignment, how are you going to solve this now? Think about it first, work out a plan in your head, and then start writing. Often you are enthusiastic or overwhelmed and you immediately start writing. This can quickly lead to a chaotic code. In programming it is very important that your code is clear and understandable. In this way, your program is easy to repair, update or adapt by colleagues now or in decades.
