About Robert
I achieved A* in A level Mathematics, A* in GCSEs in Mathematics and the three sciences, achieved 90% in Mathematics FSMQ. I qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad by finishing in the top 1000 in the UK in the UKMT Senior Challenge.
I recently completed my Mathematics degree from the University of Nottingham. I am now studying MSc Mathematical Engineering at a Times top 50 world university, KU Leuven. I am on the board of the Mathematical Engineering student association, providing the university with feedback on the quality of my course.
I have one year of experience teaching Mathematics at a primary school level with Professor Poopenstinken's Magical Maths in Nottingham :)

My method is based around teaching the two main aspects to mathematics, concepts and techniques, in a way that allows the two aspects to complement each other. I adjust the time spent and the level of depth in concepts and techniques based primarily on course requirements, however I pay attention to the aptitudes of the student, to ease the pressure in areas in which they struggle and push them in the areas they feel comfortable. I enjoy building a positive rapport with the students because I know from personal experience how much easier learning is when the teacher has the confidence and enthusiasm to make lessons fun.
In a typical lesson I will first explain a concept fully and then explain the techniques in which it can be applied. I like to use examples and talk through each problem as a series of logical steps in which various concepts are applied. If the student does not understand an aspect of the solution then I will explain that point using the relevant ideas in mathematical terms as well as with metaphors and other explanatory methods. If needed, I derive more examples to focus on the gap in understanding. Once all concepts have been understood by the student, I will assist them as they work through examples on their own, thereby committing the problem solving techniques to memory. I will set enough examples to allow the student to fully master the technique and even glimpse at the higher places it can be applied.
Lessons can last 1 to 2 hours, with additional personally curated homework exercises given. I will follow content based on course requirements for GSCE or A Level with any exam board and also offer general tuition up to A Level standard.

Robert is very clever ,friendly, and trustworthy. He can explain very difficult concepts in a simple , easy, and fun way. You might not find a better prof than him in your lifetime!
