About Fiona
Hi! This year, I've gone "back to school" to pursue a Master of Science at Waikato Uni. I completed my Bachelor's in Environmental Science some years ago and enjoyed putting all that theory into practice as I worked in collaboration with a marine park and a research institute. After a while, I felt like it was time for me to study some more and I'm especially keen to be running my own research project - looking at the management of kina in marine protected areas. Over the last few years, my main occupation has been teaching scuba diving and marine ecology. I've also worked at a language school, teaching French and English to children and young adults aged 8 to 18. Teaching is fun and I particularly enjoy one-on-ones or small classes where we really get to chat and tailor each lesson to your needs.

Need a little help to make sense of your biology class? Let's get you right where you need to be. Whether the goal is to ace Year 9 Biology or really master that undergrad paper, let's do it! I can help you with environmental, earth and marine science too. The plan is to see where you're at, and really understand what you want to get out of this class, then I'll tailor each of our sessions so that you reach your goal. I have years of experience teaching several (seemingly unrelated) subjects and skills. To name a few: undergrad level biology, ecology and earth science, French, English as a second language, scuba diving, swimming, and volleyball. I do it because I enjoy it, and that only works if my student is having a good time too - so I'll make sure of that. The best way to remember anything at all is to enjoy the process, after all. Hour-long classes are probably best, but we can adjust that according to your schedule. Happy to meet you online or in person, and if you are a Uni of Waikato student, we could even meet on campus, you decide.
