About Shimoli

Hi! I'm about to begin my second year at McMaster University, where I'm studying life sciences with the goal of pursuing a career in healthcare. I've always had a strong passion for science, and I love sharing that passion through tutoring. Having experienced academic challenges myself, I understand how it feels to lack confidence in certain subjects. That’s why I focus not only on teaching content, but also on building self-assurance in my students. I work hard to create a supportive and encouraging environment where every question is welcome, and progress is always celebrated. I’ve been tutoring for over three years, specializing in Math, Biology, and Chemistry for students from grades 1 to 8. I'm also certified in Standard First Aid and CPR-C, and I speak English, Hindi, and Gujarati.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is student-centered and adaptive. I begin each session by listening carefully to the tutee to understand which areas they need the most support. From there, I tailor the lesson plan to target their specific needs, starting with the topic they find most confusing (eg, Trigonometry).

I teach concepts from the ground up, not just the content, but also how to approach different types of problems. Once the tutee understands the concept, I provide guided examples of varying difficulty to complete in my presence. To further solidify their understanding and build confidence, I assign more challenging problems as homework.

Having been a student who received tutoring myself, I deeply understand the importance of feeling supported and heard. I create a comfortable, judgment-free learning environment where questions are always welcome. I am confidently able to teach students from grades 1 to 8 in Math, Biology, and Chemistry.
