About Gem
I am an A-Level student currently studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with a strong interest in helping younger students improve their confidence in Maths.
I understand that Maths can sometimes feel difficult or overwhelming, so I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe that understanding why a method works is just as important as knowing how to use it, and I will always try different ways of explaining a topic if a student does not understand it the first time.
Outside of academics, I have experience teaching and supporting younger students as a Wimbledon ball-boy instructor. This role has taught me how to communicate clearly, remain patient and adapt when someone is struggling with a particular technique.
Although I am new to private tutoring, my aim is to help every student find a way of learning that works for them, so they can become more confident in Maths and reach the level they are aiming for.

My approach to tutoring is to first understand which areas a student finds difficult and then work through them step by step. I like to explain the reasoning behind a method rather than simply asking students to memorise it. After explaining a concept, I will work through examples with the student before reaching actual exam questions, so that students can approach questions with more confidence.
Lessons would typically last around 1 hour, although this can be adjusted depending on the student's needs. I can also help with homework, specific topics and GCSE exam-style questions.
I am currently studying A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, alongside Physics and Chemistry. Although I am new to private tutoring, I have experience teaching and supporting younger students as a Wimbledon ball-boy instructor.
My lessons are aimed mainly at secondary school students studying GCSE Maths (both higher level and foundation), particularly those who want to strengthen their understanding, build confidence or improve their exam technique.
