I am an engineer from IIT and MBA from IIM. My emphasis is on removing fear of Maths from children and teaching concepts so that it stays with the child lifelong. Mugging is not encouraged and concepts are explained extensively number of times, without losing patience

I explain concepts by way of practical examples. This way the child remembers lifetime. Focus is on the child doing themselves, e.g. to teach time concept, the child actually plays with a clock. Actual coins used to explain concept of money. Geometrical figures by creating them with paper, etc.
