About Robert
I earned my PhD in Comparative Literature at The University of Texas at Austin in 1999, with Sanskrit as one of my languages/literatures with world-renowned teachers such as Patrick Olivelle. I studied Iyengar method for 10 years with the late Bekir Algan in Austin, Texas as well as working and teaching at the AntwerpYoga Teacher Training in Vinyasa (and other styles) with Elsie Matthijssens. I am an associate professor of English and Humanities as well at Amarillo College and am a Fulbright Scholar. I have taught in India, Italy, Belgium, and the US in a variety of levels, schools, and disciplines at colleges, universities, private schools, and yoga studies.

Bringing together over 30 years of teaching and practicing of physical Yoga (Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative) at numerous studios and being a lead and co-teacher of the AntwerpYoga TeacherTraining together with 25 years of Sanskrit study (as well as having Patrick Olivelle as my teacher), I can provide a depth of knowledge that goes beyond a normal 200 or 500-hour course.
I can provide lessons for the absolute beginner up to the most advanced.
We can tailor a plan to your needs, from one hour to three hours at a time.
My teaching method is mostly the Socratic Method of question and answer, as well as instructional lectures.
