About John

My name is John and I have twelve years of experience as a qualified TEFL teacher working with international speakers of English and I am also a life coach.

I have taught for the last twelve years online and face to face in teaching both individual clients from ages 14 and upwards to business English clients in companies such as Vodafone, Thyseen-Krupp, Sanitas (Bupa) and many many more in the Madrid region of Spain. I am now based in the UK and offer my service exclusively via videoconference.

I've also worked as a teacher trainer and I've trained over 1000 English teachers in Spain. This allows me to keep fully update with teaching methodologies and new teaching techniques.

During my twelve years of teaching experience, I have discovered that most of the barriers to speaking a language are due to a lack of confidence, so I will work with you to remove this barrier and then I will work on the language areas that are your weakest by developing your speaking, understanding and practical communication skills with confidence when using English to bring students to a fluent level.

Simply put, I do it differently. With my experience helping English learners of all ages and levels to use their skills in the real world, I take a different, more practical and personalized approach to your learning. And most important of all, my love to teach you and watch you learn, I want you to have fun and also participate in your learning, I hope I can inspire you to do that!

About the lesson

My teaching methodology depends very much on your learning style. So initially I'll do ask you to complete a short learning style analysis prior to your class so that I know how you learn.

I use a variety of techniques, from neurolinguistic programming to accelerated learning, so that you feel comfortable taking risks when English is not your first language.

All my classes include cultural elements and interesting topics. Before each class, I'll send you a short written task to complete to help you prepare. This will include either a reading or listening activity. All my classes are via videoconference and I recommend either 25 minute or 50-minute classes at least twice per week. During the class I focus on correcting your frequent mistakes, and you can also choose to receive the correction of your written assignments and / or a report of your oral errors after each class.
