About Geurt
I am an MA Historian (Magna Cum Laude) with minors in Political Science and Cultural Studies, specializing in high-stakes academic coaching for IGCSE, IB, and A-Level History.
My mission is to transform students into sophisticated critical thinkers who don't just pass exams, but understand their underlying theoretical structures to ace them.
Why choose me for your child's academic journey?
Academic Excellence: My Master’s degree from the University of Turku (Finland), international studies at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), and my research fellowship in rationalist theory of history at the Mises Institute (USA) ensure a level of intellectual rigor rarely found in general tutoring.
Admissions Focus: I understand the high bar set by Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, and other elite universities. I specialize in helping STEM-heavy students develop the critical "humanities edge" required for elite admissions.
Result-Oriented: I combine deep historical knowledge with a meticulous focus on rationalist theory, source analysis, and Internal Assessment (IA) mastery.
I offer a professional and highly engaging learning environment where history is taught as comparative theories of history—empowering students to think critically and write with authority and clarity.

The Methodology: Socratic Active Inquiry
I do not believe in passive lecturing. My approach is based on active production: students are challenged to formulate historical arguments and defend them from the very first minute.
Logic & Causality: Drawing on my background in epistemology (Misesian rationalist tradition), I teach students to look beyond surface-level facts to find the underlying theory of history and logical causality.
The Historian's Craft: We focus on primary source analysis through the "Active Debate" method. This develops the analytical skills that STEM-heavy students often lack, making their university applications stand out.
Rubric Mastery: We bridge the gap between deep knowledge and exam success by mastering the specific rubrics for Source Analysis (Paper 1) and Comparative Essays (Papers 2 & 3).
