About Ashleigh

I grew up in South Africa and did not always enjoy school. I struggled with many subjects but my favourite subjects were maths and art. I am now qualified to teach these subjects. I combine the two in my teaching today using different approaches to explain maths. I have the approach that every student is different and therefore requires different explanations.

About the lesson

I start with simple examples and get an idea of the understanding that my student has and how to build from there. I ensure that the foundation of the topic is strong enough to broaden. It is imperative that I explain the example until the student understands the 'WHY?' behind the maths. From there I complete more examples to build the confidence of the of the student and their knowledge. Ending with a challenge or summary for homework.
