About Sara
Hello! My name is Sara and I thought I’d never be able to graduate. Between crippling anxiety and disabling ADHD, to say school was difficult for me would be an understatement. When I was in grade 2, I couldn't read at all! Finally, I got a tutor who listened to me and found out how I learned. By grade 3, I was at the highest reading level in elementary, winning spelling bees left and right. It is now my goal to unlock the potential of kids who feel they have none. My emphasis on relationship building and positive affirmation are perfect for children experiencing self-doubt and hopelessness at school. I firmly believe the student has as much to teach as the teacher, they just aren't given the opportunity. During our sessions, we will work through problems together, with less focus on the correct answer and more focus on the thought processes that got us there. By the end of each session, expect to leave with a smile and a better understanding of yourself and what works for you.

A lesson will consist of building rapport and establishing a comfortable environment before tackling challenges together until the student gains their own confidence. To encourage engagement, I will deconstruct challenges and relate them to the learner in a creative and fun way. In order to better prepare the student to deal with challenges in the real world, we will start to cultivate reflective thinking and learn from any mistakes. My goal is that the student leaves with a sense of confidence and a renewed positive outlook on problem-solving. Additionally, that they would become excited rather than discouraged when faced with obstacles.
