About Joenae
Hello! I’m a dedicated educator with over 10 years of experience helping students succeed in reading, writing, and overall academics. I have worked as a teacher, instructional coach, and school leader, and I am passionate about helping students build both skills and confidence.
I understand that every child learns differently, so I take a personalized and supportive approach to each session. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel confident, capable, and proud of their progress.
I also believe in strong communication with families, so you will always know how your child is growing and how to support them at home.

My Approach as a Tutor
My approach to tutoring is student-centered, data-driven, and results-focused. With my background as a teacher, instructional coach, and campus leader, I don’t just help students complete assignments—I help them build the skills and confidence needed for long-term academic success.
Teaching Method and Techniques
I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and gaps through informal assessments and targeted questioning. From there, I design lessons that are:
Structured and goal-oriented
Aligned to academic standards (TEKS for Texas students)
Focused on explicit instruction, guided practice, and independent application
I use a gradual release model:
I model → We practice together → You apply independently
I also incorporate:
Real-time feedback
Scaffolding for struggling learners
Strategies for critical thinking and comprehension
Typical Lesson Structure
A standard session includes:
Warm-Up / Review (5–10 minutes)
Quick check of previously learned skills to reinforce retention
Targeted Instruction (15–20 minutes)
Direct teaching of a specific skill (e.g., main idea, text evidence, writing structure)
Guided Practice (15–20 minutes)
We work through problems together with support and feedback
Independent Practice & Application (10–15 minutes)
Student demonstrates understanding independently
Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 minutes)
