About Giancarlo

I'm a fifth-year Kinesiology student at York University, finishing up my final electives after completing my four-year program with a straight-A average. My passion is in sports and athletic performance — understanding how the body moves, adapts, and pushes its limits is what drew me to Kinesiology and what keeps me genuinely excited about the subject every day.
That academic track record isn't something I take lightly. Maintaining straight As across a full Kinesiology degree means I've not only mastered the material — I've had to develop real strategies for learning it efficiently. I know what it takes to understand dense biology content, retain it under pressure, and perform when it counts.
Teaching comes naturally to me because I actually love this stuff. Whether it's breaking down how the musculoskeletal system works or making sense of a tricky physiology concept, I find real satisfaction in the moment things click for a student. I bring the same dedication to my sessions that I brought to my own studies — and I'm here to help you get results.

My Approach as a Tutor
As a Kinesiology student, I bring a unique, body-centered lens to biology that makes complex concepts click faster. My approach is always concept-first — before we drill into details or memorization, I make sure you genuinely understand what's happening and why. Once the foundation is solid, we move into application: practice questions, real-world examples, and connecting theory to how the body actually works.
Teaching Methodology
Every session starts by identifying where your understanding breaks down — not just what you got wrong on a test, but why. From there, I build explanations from the ground up using clear language, relatable analogies, and connections to everyday physiology. For topics like muscle contraction, the cardiovascular system, or cellular respiration, I tie abstract concepts back to movement and the human body, which makes them far easier to retain.
A Typical Lesson
A session usually looks like this: we open with a quick check-in on what you covered in class and what felt confusing. I then walk through the core concept clearly before asking you to explain it back to me in your own words — a proven technique for identifying gaps. We close with a few practice questions or a short review of your notes to consolidate what we covered.
What Sets Me Apart
My Kinesiology background means I don't just teach biology in the abstract — I connect it to the body, movement, and health in ways your textbook often doesn't. That real-world grounding helps students who feel like biology is just endless memorization finally see the bigger picture.
Who This Is For
My lessons are ideal for:

High school students taking Biology 11/12 or AP Biology who want to build strong fundamentals
First-year university students in courses like Introductory Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, or Exercise Physiology (common in Kinesiology, Nursing, Health Sciences, and Pre-Med programs)

Whether you're preparing for an exam, catching up after falling behind, or just want to actually understand the material — I've got you.
