I design my lessons around where my students are in terms of ability. I work with areas of interest and with texts and challenges at the appropriate level. I'd want my students to be curious, to ask questions, to reflect on their learning and to own the process. I enjoy a relaxed approach, with humor and a sense that they're in a safe place to make mistakes, learn from them and develop. For me, the greatest reward in teaching is watching students light up as they grasp new concepts, demonstrate new skills and create their own new knowledge.

Mike is highly respected within the education sector in South Africa, definitely someone you would like to have as your tutor!
I have known Mike in his professional and personal capacity. He has an extraordinary command of both the spoken and the written word. His style is clear, concise, correct and often peppered with humor. Mike's way is to show not tell, to empower not only teach.
