About Aaliya
I am both a Student and Teacher of Yoga, initiated into the Tantric lineage and passionate about connecting the value of traditional practice and philosophy to the context of the modern world. I have been studying and practicing for over 10 years, and completed my first formal certification training in 2019 - I am planning to attend a 300HTT in 2025 to further integrate the knowledge I have obtained.
My teaching style is a synergistic approach; respect for the traditions and teachings of ancient lineages forms the groundwork upon which I have developed a unique teaching style that caters to the attitudes and minds of the contemporary world. I believe that with consistent, devotional practice, one will inevitably achieve that which they set their mind to.
I offer heartfelt gratitude to the teachers - and their teachers before them - that have shaped me into the teacher I continue to grow into; Kaytee Hoverson, Ram Dass, Janet Stone, and Talia Sutra.

I teach open-level, intermediate, and advanced classes to students with varied levels of experience and skill. Classes range from 10 minutes to and hour and a half, and usually involve the opening of practice with mantra (chanting) and sankalpa (intention setting), āsana and pranayam practice with the intention of anchoring the mind into the present and vitalising the body with awareness, breath and movement, and the closing of practice with dharana (meditation). Guidance towards both external and internal alignment is a priority; while postures have a visible alignment, bandha (energy locks), dristi (gaze), pranayam (breathing techniques), and attention are also essential.
My lessons are for anyone who sincerely wants to practice yoga with the intention of self-realisation held tenderly within the heart. Improved physical strength, flexibility, and muscular flexibility are examples of common physiological benefits of Yoga practice, whilst stress relief, improved sleep, and increased capacity to regulate emotions and thoughts are also anticipated effects of practice.
