About Leah

I began tutoring around four years ago to help my younger sister who was struggling with maths at the time, while teaching her I learned that I have a passion for teaching maths. Throughout the lessons she grew more confident and was able to understand the concepts which once seemed alien to her. Since then, I have taught many others, formally and informally, and helped them reach the understanding they need, as well as the confidence to not doubt themselves.
I completed my A levels in November 2021, with an A in mathematics, and I plan to use my gift going forward to help make maths more accessible to those who need it.

About the lesson

My main goal in teaching is to demystify maths. For many of us, maths seems daunting and complicated, but when explained in simplest terms, we can see how it all works together and appreciate the language of it. In my lessons I focus on breaking concepts down step by step and ensuring that my students not only know how to do the exercises, but also understand why we approach those concepts the way we do. My lessons are aimed for English speaking students at all levels up to and including year 1 university mathematics. With experience teaching students with ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, and other qualities which may have presented issues in the past in terms of mathematics, I am able to adapt my teaching style to suit the needs of the student
