About Elisa
In Year 5, my teacher assigned me to become a literacy tutor for a younger international student. I enjoyed teaching so much that I taught maths to a younger friend during lunchtimes.
In Year 10, I volunteered as a weekly homework helper at Kogarah Library, where I assisted primary school and early high school students with their maths, English and science homework. In Year 12, I marked my peers’ English essays and held Biology workshops before the final exams. My peers commented that my teaching helped them understand concepts better. This motivated me to become a private tutor after the HSC - I tutored a Year 10 student and three Year 12 students in English, mathematics, biology and chemistry.
Since moving to Queensland for university, I have tutored a Year 6 student in English, a Year 11 student in maths and biology, and first-year university students in chemistry and biostatistics.
In Cambodia, I also taught English to primary school students for one week.

I aim to not just be a tutor, but a mentor for students. As a tutor, I share knowledge and help you understand, memorise and apply content. I test you and give you advice to excel in exams. As a mentor, I help you develop long-term skills and an appreciation for what you are learning.
My teaching style is tailored to the student. I explain my thought processes as I approach a problem to help students understand the logic behind problem solving. I explain processes using flowcharts, drawings and analogies. I adapt the way I teach depending on the student.
