About Aung
Hi there! My name is Aung, and I’ve worked as a paraprofessional for over two years across different schools, supporting students with diverse learning needs. Those experiences have deepened my passion for education and shown me how powerful personalized, patient guidance can be in helping students thrive. I studied at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where I majored in Food and Agricultural Business Management. During my time there, I developed strong skills in communication, critical thinking, and mentorship—all of which I bring into my teaching practice. My approach as a tutor is built on patience, empathy, and adaptability. I take time to understand each student’s learning style, strengths, and challenges so that I can tailor my lessons to fit their needs. I believe every student learns at their own pace, and my role is to create a supportive environment where they feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Let’s go through this learning journey together! I’m here not just to teach, but to help students discover their potential, build self-confidence, and enjoy the process of learning.

- My teaching approach is centered on student-driven learning. I believe students learn best when they are engaged, confident, and see real-life relevance in what they’re learning.
I start by assessing each student’s strengths, needs, and learning preferences.
I use scaffolding, breaking down complex ideas into smaller, manageable parts.
I integrate visual aids, real-world examples, and formative feedback so that students stay motivated and see their progress.
I promote growth mindset language — encouraging effort, resilience, and curiosity instead of perfection.
- A typical lesson follows a structured yet flexible format:
Warm-up (5 minutes):
Quick review of previous material or a small “Do Now” activity to activate prior knowledge.
Objective and Introduction (5 minutes):
Clearly state the day’s learning goal in student-friendly language (“Today we’ll learn how to…”).
Guided Instruction (15–20 minutes):
I model the concept step-by-step, think aloud, and use examples. Students practice with me through questioning or small exercises.
Independent or Collaborative Practice (15–20 minutes):
Students apply what they’ve learned individually or in pairs while I provide support, feedback, and differentiation as needed.
Reflection and Wrap-Up (5–10 minutes):
I check for understanding through short exit tickets, group reflection, or verbal sharing.
I end each lesson by connecting it to real-life applications or next steps.
- My lessons are designed for K–12 students, particularly in elementary and middle school levels, focusing on core subjects such as reading, writing, and math. However, my approach can also adapt to high school students needing foundational support or study skills.
