About Torntara
As someone who once struggled in Science and Maths, I strongly believe in developing skill over inherent talent. I recognise that learning is, in itself, a skill - one that improves as you develop an understanding of what works for you personally. Having received tutoring during my GCSEs, I see the benefits of having a guide to support an individual's learning development. Ultimately, this experience helped me approach difficult subjects with an optimism that I would eventually figure it out. I will work from your starting point to collaboratively build learning techniques and resources that best fit you. My hope is that you will leave our sessions feeling more confident in your overall ability to learn.

As a tutor, I will support your learning through personalised methods revolving around your individual strengths. I will guide you through different learning and revision techniques to find what suits you best, as well as provide tutoring in exam technique. My aim is to develop your capacity for scientific thinking and your confidence in learning independently - I would be pleased to find out a tutee of mine no longer needed my support! Informally, I have provided academic support to my peers throughout my time studying. More formally, I recently completed tutor-specific training on another tutoring platform and I can confirm that I have an enhanced DBS certificate. I have also received some training in safeguarding. My lessons would be about 1 hour long. They are aimed at students studying Chemistry at GCSE level.
