About Madison
Hi! I'm Madison, a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Biology. I’ve spent years immersed in everything from molecular genetics to microbiology, and I know how overwhelming science can feel, especially when concepts are taught without context or clarity. That’s where I come in. As a tutor, my goal is to help you feel confident, not just competent. I’ll meet you where you are, explain things in a way that actually makes sense, and support you through every challenge, whether you're prepping for a big exam, catching up in class, or just want to understand why things work the way they do in biology. I bring both academic knowledge and real study experience to the table, along with a deep respect for your unique learning style, and I'm committed to helping you succeed!

I believe in active, student-centered learning that builds curiosity and confidence. My sessions are highly interactive, so students don’t just memorize concepts, they learn to apply them. I use analogies, diagrams, and real-world examples (especially in microbiology, genetics, and physiology) to break down complex topics into digestible ideas.
A typical lesson plan:
1. Warm-up: A quick recap of previous material or a thought provoking question to get the brain ready to learn!
2. Concept deep-dive: This typically involves an in-depth topic explanation using different learning tools such as supplemental videos, virtual experiments, and real-world demonstrations to appeal to auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning.
3. Guided practice: Practice problems done with the instructor so students learn how to work and think through the process.
4. Independent study: Students will individually work through practice problems and explain the concept to me.
As a recent grad, I understand what it feels like when a tricky concept just isn't clicking. That's why I try to bring empathy, energy, and humor to every session because learning works best when you're relaxed! I find that my lessons are best suited towards middle school and high school level learning.
